Oh no... writing block
If you find it difficult to write for any reason then you may be suffering from
"writing block" Your subconscious is a remarkable tool when it comes
to bringing to the surface of your mind if things have gone dark and you cannot think don't panic! below are some great excercises to help you get back to writing:
Excercise 1
Make a list of memory-joggers on one page of A4. Think about your life and your age and write down the most significant events. The first thing to think is don't tell yourself
you must come up with an idea to write about, just indulge yourself in a spot
of old-fashioned nostalgia. Again I would be surprised if your memory jogger does
not help you surpass your writing block.
Excercise 2
Sit quietly somewhere and picture in your mind's a member of your family what
would this family member say about you. Some writers say that sitting themselves
down in front of a computer to write gets them going.
If
you have tried more than one of the above and still find it hard to start to write
your UCAS personal statement then go online and find some sample personal
statements, we recommend the 60 samples written by Oxford Graduates at a bargain of only £5.99 it will be money well spent. This will hopefully help you renew your enthusiasm.
